I would like to say that “this blog is dedicated to improving mental health and creating a positive body image” but I know how that sounds. This blog is a project, it is a chance for me to do something with the +10 years of wellness tools I have learned from therapy, life lessons, and books. I don’t want to teach you how to be normal, I want to show you recovery from mental health challenges is possible and that you are still you despite having a diagnosis. I’m not a licensed professional, but a person living with the chronic challenges of a mental disorder and I think that’s qualifying enough to talk about these issues.
So what issues will we be talking about? Well, I’m glad you asked me-who-is-writing-this, the topics will include but not be limited to:
- Emotional wellness
- Positive body image
- Productivity & Goal setting
- The self vs. the diagnosis
- Mental wellness
- Recovery from diagnosis
I want to cover these topics, but through the lens of someone who happens to have a diagnosis, is queer, and also happens to be a person of color. I want you to know these facts because mental healthcare isn’t always as inclusive as you would expect, despite the diverse population that lives with varying disorders.
